TMA Talent Management at Toshiba

In the past, Toshiba Tec Netherlands found it challenging at times to select the right candidate for a position. Decisions made in the hiring process were not always accurate, resulting in higher turnover rates than desired for the organization. This led Toshiba Tec Netherlands to the need for better insight into the talents and development potential of candidates.

This prompted the collaboration with We Build Bridges and the use of TMA analyses during selection processes. Together with We Build Bridges, they explored the use of the TMA instrument as part of the recruitment process and employee support.

Since 2010, the TMA Method has been used at Toshiba Tec Netherlands for recruitment and the support of its 165 employees. Karin underwent certification training with We Build Bridges, enabling her to use the analysis results to ask the right questions during job interviews and provide employees with proper guidance. She attended the certification training with a colleague, followed by two more colleagues later on. Since then, TMA analyses have been regularly used in the second interview with a candidate to gain a clearer and more comprehensive understanding.

According to Karin, one of the significant benefits of the collaboration with We Build Bridges and their TMA certification training is the ability to ask better and more targeted questions during job interviews and to have a deeper insight into personality. This provides a clearer picture of the candidate and potential risks. Karin, since using the TMA analyses and being able to provide feedback herself, can make better decisions in the selection process. Sometimes, a candidate may appear very positive in an interview, but the analysis results may not align with the expectations for the position.

By learning to interpret the TMA analyses correctly, Karin can effectively assess the risks. This helps in the selection process and is also valuable for a manager because the report provides tips on how to handle specific competencies of a candidate. Any doubts previously present in decisions about whether or not to hire a candidate can now be resolved with concrete indications from the TMA results. Ultimately, this leads to better selection and lower turnover.
